What is Pilates Plus?

The Backstory

Pilates Plus was established in 2007 by Judith Anne Gould, an Australian-trained Physiotherapist. The program is a comprehensive assessment and treatment approach built upon over 35 years of clinical expertise. Judith has utilized Pilates equipment for more than 25 years to help clients retrain their posture and movement patterns and has developed a specialized Physiotherapist training program for her team.

Her passion for postural and movement analysis began during her undergraduate studies at the University of Queensland, under the guidance of renowned experts including Emeritus Professor Gwendolen Jull, Dr. Carolyn Richardson, and Professor Vladimir Janda. When she was introduced to the Pilates Method in 1997, she immediately recognized the potential of Pilates equipment to facilitate muscle activation retraining, as well as static and dynamic movement correction. All Prohealth Posture Plus Physiotherapists are trained in the Pilates Plus system.

Symptoms, Treatments and Approach

A key aspect of Pilates Plus is the thorough initial assessment. This process involves detailed questioning, observation of both static posture and dynamic movements, along with photographic and video analysis, and research questionnaires. Based on this assessment, the Physiotherapist identifies primary issues and creates a personalized treatment plan utilizing the Pilates Plus. Rehab programmes will help you improve your body posture, movement, and flexibility to speed up recovery from injuries and strengthen your overall performance.
