Senior Mobility
Senior Mobility
How can our physiotherapists help?
In senior care, physiotherapy is crucial for combating stiffness and limited mobility, which are primary causes of falls. By using manual therapy to increase flexibility and prescribing targeted exercises to improve strength and range of motion, a physiotherapist directly addresses the root causes of decreased movement.
Additionally, Physiotherapist implement specialized programs for balance and gait training to enhance stability and reduce the risk of falls. Ultimately, physiotherapy helps seniors regain their confidence, independence, and overall quality of life.
Symptoms, Treatments and Approach
Our goal is to prevent injuries in the elderly that result from restricted mobility. We provide personalized physiotherapy programs to help seniors regain their independence and confidence. Through a combination of tailored exercises and manual therapy, we work to restore function and improve overall quality of life.
How We Improve Mobility and Strength
We create customized exercise programs focused on enhancing joint mobility, strengthening muscles, and improving general function. Our programs include a variety of movements designed to support daily activities like walking and climbing stairs.
Range of Motion Exercises: Gentle exercises like ankle circles and leg swings help to increase joint mobility and flexibility.
Stretching: We teach regular stretching routines to relieve tension and improve joint flexibility. Examples include hamstring stretches and calf stretches.
Strength Training: Our programs incorporate foundational movements like calf raises and "sit to stand" exercises to build muscle and enhance functional strength.
Targeted Manual Therapy
In addition to our exercise-based approach, we use manual therapy to relieve muscle tension and stiffness. Our physiotherapists are skilled in techniques such as soft tissue massage, which can alleviate discomfort and prepare the body for movement. By combining exercise with manual therapy, we create a comprehensive plan that addresses both the causes and symptoms of reduced mobility in seniors.
