Yolanda’s Background
I graduated from HKPU and I bring extensive experience working in a public hospital where I have treated a wide range of patients, including patients with orthopedic and neurological conditions as well as post surgical reconditioning. Throughout this experience, I developed a strong passion for incorporating exercise therapy into my treatment approach, prompting my transition to private practice.
I have extensive experience in rehabilitative Pilates working in a Pilates-focused physiotherapy clinic, I use this in combination to address many musculoskeletal pain and postnatal conditions. I have refined my skills across various treatment modalities, including manual techniques, taping, and acupuncture.
Currently, I am training to be a mentor with Polestar Pilates, which has further enhanced my understanding of the therapeutic benefits of Pilates for rehabilitation. Recently, I’ve completed additional training to become a certified Onero™ practitioner, enabling me to assist individuals with osteoporosis and osteopenia in improving their bone density through an evidence-based exercise program.
I am committed to continuous professional development and eager to grow in this field. As someone who has mild scoliosis myself, I am especially passionate about Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis-Specific Exercises. I became a Certified ISST Schroth Therapist this year, allowing me to effectively treat and support scoliosis patients.
Having experienced piriformis syndrome, scoliosis, and TMJ pain firsthand, I truly understand how physiotherapy and exercise therapy can transform one’s pain and quality of life. In my practice, I integrate manual therapy modalities with Pilates and exercise therapy to effectively treat the conditions my patients present.
What is the most fulfilling part of this job?
As per Joseph Pilates said, "Change happens through movement, and movement heals." The most fulfilling part of being a physiotherapist is witnessing the transformative power of movement in my patients' lives. Integrating my experience in Pilates and Onero osteoporosis care allows me to create personalized treatment plans that empower individuals to reclaim their mobility and confidence. Seeing my patients progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals is truly rewarding and reinforces my passion for helping others heal and thrive.
What are your personal interests?
I am a total FITNESS ENTHUSIAST, diving into yoga, pilates and gym workouts, and I have just kicked off my golf journey. Outside work and my hobbies, I am a foodie at heart, exploring all the delicious spots and hopping between bars. You will definitely see me around Central, likely sporting my favorite Lululemon outfit!
